Developing Character

Our character is the foundation of how we interact with the world around us. It is the only real gift we can give our young person that will have lasting impact in their life.

A good character positions us for positive and successful interactions. It allows us to live a full and enriching life, setting us up for great work opportunities, success in sporting teams, successful relationships and equipping us to chase and pursue our dreams.

To best guide specific character development, we use a continuum. At both ends of the continuum are extremes. The intent is to move towards the centre, where our character finds the balanced, positive and Jesuslike response.

Why Jesuslike?

We searched through the history books looking for a person to model our character development upon. Jesus lived just over 2,000 years ago in northeast Israel. His teachings, actions and legacy left a dramatic impact on the world. In fact, it was to such an extent that our historical dating system uses Jesus birth as a central starting point.

Therefore, we have used the term Jesuslike to describe the centre of each specific character continuum.

The Journey: An Intentional Parenting Framework was originally designed for our five children. We have found this period to be so enjoyable and enriching. We are so thankful to have travelled The Journey.
